APWG.eu
The APWG European Research Foundation, APWG.EU, focused on pursuing EU government funded research and bringing EU-based researchers together has terminated its operations and was folded back into the larger APWG organization.
The transition has been orderly, and APWG.EU members and conference attendees should continue to look to the APWG for continued support of their e-crime work and research as well as future conferences.
APWG.ORG continues to support e-crime research and any EU-based researchers should look to focus their APWG relationship with the us.
This consolidation does eliminate a long-standing confusion for EU-based researchers on which APWG flavor to engage with.
APWG.EU did important work and we thank all those who contributed over the past 12+ years:
- LAZARUS was a three-year research and innovation project that aims to heal many of the security issues that befall modern software during its development lifecycle.
- LOCARD: “LAWFUL EVIDENCE COLLECTING AND CONTINUITY PLATFORM DEVELOPMENT” aimed to develop a holistic platform aimed at ensuring the chain of custody throughout the flow of forensic analysis. It is a distributed and trusted platform that allows the storage of digital evidence metadata using blockchain technology.
- TRUESSEC.eu is a CSA on certification and labelling of trustworthiness properties from a multidisciplinary SSH-ICT perspective and with emphasis on human rights. It explored the situation, the barriers, and the benefits of security and privacy labels;
- VIVET: A European consortium with partners from Bulgaria, Spain, Italy and Germany created a cross-sectoral repository collecting and delivering vocational videos from all countries in Europe and beyond.
Having the entire APWG community under one banner should reduce confusion and enhance global research, collaboration, and data sharing
- There will be fewer scheduling challenges for APWG events, as the EU Researchers Forums had created some challenges for members to attend APWG.ORG events
- APWG ORG will continue a strong EU presence with regular meetings and membership opportunities.
- The next APWG E-Crime Conference will be held in Lisbon, PT and future meetings will continue to be planned for the EU.
- EU members will be transitioning over to APWG.ORG
