Cybercrime Researcher
Data Grant Program

Data Exchange Designed for Cybercrime Fighters

For Membership Information:
membership@apwg.org

Under the Cybercrime Researcher Data Grant Program, APWG can consider requests from research centers, universities, multilateral organizations and NGO’s for access to data resources within our eCrime Exchange (eCX) in the interest of encouraging rigorous research into cybercrime and electronic fraud. Accepted investigators are granted full read access to APWG’s eCX data.

To be considered for this program, please submit a request to membership@apwg.org.

APWG will grant access after an assessment of how the requesting investigator would use the eCX data, Investigators should describe thoroughly what the proposed research will produce, how the research will be conducted and the ways in which eCX data will be incorporated into the research methodology,

  • Please reference any publications/abstracts/white papers/etc that the APWG’s membership and research committes can review to see the direction of the investigator’s research.
  • Key questions:

    • Is the research going to be submitted to research conferences and journals – and, if so, which symposia and publications.
    • How will the APWG be attributed for its data contributions to the research?

    • Is the investigator currently working with other APWG Member organizations?

    • Will the research incorporating eCX data produce new data that can be contributed back to the APWG in some way?

    • How long will access be required?

Investigators considering applying to the data grant program who are simply curious about the available data resources are encouraged to contact us, as well. APWG administration can provide sample cuts of the data from each eCX API endpoint upon request.
